The goal of Developmental Coaching is to help you develop into the best version of you that you can become. The value of this type of coaching is that it teaches you how to solve your own problems and find solutions on your own. In developmental coaching I will never tell you what to do and I try very hard never to give you advice. What I will do is ask you the questions that matter. Questions designed to make you think, to help you develop your own skills and problem solving abilities.
We start by outlining the life you want to live, and why that life is meaningful to you. For this to be effective you have to be totally open and honest with me. Everything you tell me will be totally confidential. I will not listen to excuses or try to figure out the past, that is the job of a therapist. I will help you focus on the life you want and how you can make that life a reality. This requires us to look at every aspect of your life, and will require you to move outside your comfort zones. My role is to help facilitate your ability to create change in yourself. This is how you transform your life into the life of your dreams.
This type of coaching is very powerful for people who understand that they are on a life long journey of learning and want to grow both personally and professionally in every aspect of their life. This is the type of coaching that Jim Rohn provided for me. Looking back, I realize that it transformed almost every area of my life. At the time it was frustrating because I would ask Jim for advice, but he would never just tell me what to do, even though he had the answers. He made me figure it out, and then he made me reflect on the decisions I had made and helped me turn my experience into true learning. This method gave me a framework to live by.
In the end this was by far the greatest value that Jim gave me. Its true value is immeasurable. This is something that I love doing because of the impact it has on people. For me, it is one of the most rewarding things I do. Because of the emotional investment that I make into each one of my developmental coaching clients, I limit the number I have at any one time. If you are interested in finding out more, please fill out the short coaching survey below and I will set up an interview with you to see to see if we would be a good fit.
Warning: This type of coaching is not a good fit for people who think they have it all figured out and are just looking for a cheerleader who is going to tell them how great they are, or are looking for instant results. This type of personal growth normally takes time to see results. It can take three to six months sometimes even more to see the work that we do together show up in tangible ways. This is why I only take on people who are willing to make a yearlong commitment to coaching with me. But I only want to work with people who I can provide great value to. So my year-long coaching agreement has a 90-day cancellation clause. When you sign up for a year of coaching with me, at the end of 90 days, you can opt out of the agreement if you are unhappy with the direction we are headed for any reason. This takes the risk of signing a year-long coaching contract off the table.
